Tropical Storm Beryl

* The second tropical storm has formed off the coast of North Carolina...It's name is Beryl.

* This storm won't really impact us here...There will likely be some heavy rain and gusty winds along the East Coast.

* The tropics will probably get more active as we close out the rest of July and get into August...Sure hope I'm wrong on that, but we'll just have to see...

TD 2 Forms

* The second tropical depression of the season has formed off the coast of North Carolina. This has the potential to become a tropical storm later today or tonight...

* Here's the official advisory from the National Hurricane Center:

* This will not impact Mississippi or Alabama, but could bring heavy rain and winds to the east coast of the United States.

* This could signal an increase in activity. We still anticipate an active season, despite the slow start. I think August and September will probably be very active.

Make Scrambled Eggs on the Sidewalk!!!!

*It feels just about hot enough to make breakfast in the middle of your driveway! Today we topped out at a scorching 101 degrees!!! I believe that the Jackson Internationl Airport recorded it's highest reading of the year so far as well. It's obvious that we are in the middle of an extreme heat wave and temps are going to be slow to cool down.

*The ridge of high pressure situated over the mid-west should begin to move eastward bringing some drier air into the area. A thing to note: RIDGE=NOT ENOUGH RAIN. This "drier" air will prevent any widespread shower activity, but there is still enough moisture and lift in the air to allow isolated showers to pop-up across the area. While we will see a few showers, it won't be enough to get us back on our monthly precip track.

Be sure to STAY HYDRATED and STAY COOL! I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous heat can be when we are living in these extreme temperatures. Run through the sprinklers, break out the slip-n-slide, take a dip in the pool. Just find a way to keep your cool! Have a great week and I will see you next weekend!
