2:30 AM Update

* Thunderstorms pulsed up earlier tonight across northern parts of Louisiana. But, at this early hour, there is some good news. The storms aren't as intense as they were. However, I believe once the sun rises and begins to heat the atmosphere, we will probably see at least some slight intensification of these storms. We'll still go with the idea that severe weather is possible, but should be the exception and not the rule.

* This event will primarily be characterized by the heavy rainfall it brings. We're already close to one inch, and we still have a LOT of rain left to get through. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 3 or 4 inch total somewhere in MS/AL by the time the rain wraps up this (Friday) afternoon.

* FORECAST: Rain continues through the day today, with some embedded storms...One or two could be strong or severe. It will also be quite breezy, with winds gusting upwards of 20 mph, even outside of thunderstorms. The rain tapers off tonight, and we turn cooler. Sunshine returns Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 70's.

* A Word of Caution: Please drive safely today. The roads will be wet and slick, so leave a few minutes early to make sure you have plenty of time drive a bit slower and still arrive on time. Life's just too short to throw it away driving too fast on wet roads, yet it happens almost every day.

A Cool, Fall Day

* Today sure looks and feels like Fall. There is a nice, cool feel to the air, skies are gray, and it just seems like this is vintage October. Great stuff.

* Rain, rain rain. We will assuredly get our share over the next 36 hours. Some places will likely end up with over 2" of rain by the time it tapers off early Friday morning.

* Severe Weather? The SPC has outlooked all of our area under a "Slight" risk of severe weather on Thursday....Instability seems a bit limited, but we can't rule out a few thunderstorms here and there. And, some of those could be strong or severe - best chance of svr weather comes along and south of U.S. Hwy 84.
