Severe Weather Threat

* Watching the threat for severe weather overnight across the area. Atmospheric instability and wind shear will be at levels high enough for severe thunderstorms including the threats of damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

* A fairly substantial temperature inversion, or a pocket of warm air aloft, is in place right now. This will inhibit some storms from forming. However, the upper level disturbance that will move through tonight should be strong enough to break the cap and allow storms to develop. Storms that do develop will have the capability to become strong and severe in a short amount of time.

* Now would be a good time to check the batteries in your NOAA weather radio. Based on the fact that this will be a nighttime event, it is even more important to have that radio ready to go!

* Will be evaluating the situation closely!
