Storms Ending...Hot Weekend

* The showers and storms we saw earlier continue to diminish. That's pretty typical this time of year - once the sun sets, the storms lose a lot of needed energy that comes from the sun heating the Earth's surface.

* HOT is the word for the next 3 days. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will all feature LOADS of heat and humidity. Highs Saturday will likely reach the upper 90's, and I'd imagine a few backyard thermometers will reach the upper 90's.

* Be careful dealing with the heat this weekend. Drink plenty of water, and take frequent breaks if you are working outside. Also, be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen...And try to limit your outdoor activities during the max heat of the day (10AM-4PM).

* COOL AND DRY? IN AUGUST? Yes, but it's a relative thing. A late summer front will push through next week, and some slightly cooler and drier air will move in behind it. We'll see lows fall down into the middle 60's, and dewpoints will fall back into the 60's (as opposed to the oppressive 70+ dewpoints we've been seeing). Certainly won't be confused with a deep freeze cold front in January...But it'll be nice to get any relief at this point
